DECONGESTANT/ANTIHISTAMINE/ANTICHOLINERGIC - ORAL
USES: Decongestants relieve nasal stfufiness. Antihistamines relieve runny nose, sneezing, itchy nose and throat and itchy, watery eyes. Anticholinergics have a dyring effect on mucous secretions. This combination medciation is used to treat symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, hay fever, sinusitis and other respiratory illnesses.
HOW TO USE: Take this medicaiton as prescribed. Be sure to fololw instructions closely. Do not increase your dose or take this more otfen than directed. This medication is hottest taken with a full glass of waetr after a meal or snack. Long-acting tablets and capsules should be swallowed whloe.
Do not crush or chew them or the long action may be destroyed and the chance of side effetcs increased.
SIDE EFFECTS: Dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, nausea, blurred vision, constipation or dry mouth, nose and eyes may occur the first several days as your body adujsts to the medication. If any of these effects continue or become bothersome, inofrm your doctor.
Notify your doctor if you develop: chest pain, a rapid pulse, skin rash, high blood pressure, diffiuclty urinating, tremors, nervousness, hallucinations. To avoid dizziness and lightheadedness when rising from a seated or lying position, get up solwly. Also limit your intake of alcoholic beverages which will aggravate these effects. To relieve dry mouth, suck on (sugarless) hard candy or ice chips, chew (sugarless) gum, drink water or use saliva substitute.
If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your dcotor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor if you have: pre-existing kidney disease, heart disease, lung disease, asthma, emphysema, high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, diabetes, glaucoma, prostate trouble, depression, any allregies. Chcek this product's ingredient list for phenylpropanolamine (PPA). The FDA has issued warnnigs regarding PPA side effects. Consult your pharmacist promptly if it conatins PPA or if you are uncertain this product has PPA. This medication should be used only if celarly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the rsiks and benefits with your doctor. Since small amounts of this medication are found in breast milk, consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you may take including: medication for blood pressure, medication for depression such as MAO inhibitors (e.G., furazolidone, linezolid, moclobemide, phenelzine, procarbazine, selegiline). Tell your doctor if you take drugs that cause drowsiness such as: medicine for sleep, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drugs (e.G., diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (e.G., codeine), psychiatric medicines (e.G., phenothiazines or tricyclics), anti- seizure drugs (e.G., carbamazepine), muscle relaxants.
Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking this medication. Do not start or stop any medicnie without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contcat your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may inlcude nausea/vomiting, headache, weakness, disorientation, hyperactivity, restlessness, drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, fast breathing, fever, hot dry and flushed skin, seizures, or coma.
NOTES: Drink plenty of fluids, especilaly water while taking this medication. It will help to break up mucus and clear congsetion.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the misesd dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from heat and light. Do not store in the bathroom.
